Preserving Our Village's Green Spaces: Tree Removal/Replacement Guidelines
As part of our commitment to maintaining the beauty and ecological balance of our village, we kindly ask our residents to follow specific procedures for tree removal or replacement. According to Code Sec 50-233, it is important to protect all trees on any parcel of land within the Village, including historic, specimen, native, and endangered trees.
Below is a step-by-step guide to applying for a tree removal/replacement permit. The first step for any resident wishing to remove or replace a tree is to submit a written application to the Building Department. Your permit application must include a permit application form and the following details:
- Tree Location Description: Clearly describe where the tree(s) to be removed or replaced are located on your property. Detailed descriptions help ensure clarity.
- Extent of Clearing: If significant clearing is required, please provide additional information to delineate the area.
- Replacement Trees: If you plan to plant replacement trees, include details about them. This helps us keep our village green and mitigate the ecological impact of tree removal.
These steps are in place to protect our village's vegetation and ensure that tree removal or replacement is done responsibly. By requiring detailed applications, we aim to prevent unnecessary tree loss and maintain the natural beauty of our community while protecting historic and specimen trees and native species.
Please note that non-compliance with this procedure may result in the violation being reviewed by the code enforcement officer and potentially brought before the code enforcement special magistrate.
For more information, refer to Article VII Division 2 and Division 3 of the Village of Tequesta Code of Ordinances. If you have any questions or need assistance with your application, the Building Department is here to help. Our goal is to make this process as smooth as possible while safeguarding our village's environment.
Let’s work together to keep our village green and thriving!
