Lobbyist Registration

Lobbyist

If you are a paid lobbyist, attempting to influence the outcome of a matter that would ultimately come before the Board of County Commissioners or the Village of Tequesta, you must comply with the requirements of the Palm Beach County Lobbyist Registration Ordinance. This ordinance requires lobbyists to register before engaging in lobbyist activities. Even if you lobby only on an occasional basis, it is important that you familiarize yourself with these lobbying regulations. At this site, you will find links to the ordinance, frequently asked questions and answers, and the Online Lobbyist Registry.

Note: A new Lobbyist Registration Ordinance went into effect on July 1, 2021.

To register with Palm Beach County, please visit their Lobbyist Regulations page.

Once you register and pay your fee to Palm Beach County, if you wish to meet with Village staff, Council Members, Advisory Board Members or employees, you will need to complete the Village of Tequesta's Lobbyist Registration Log as well.

“Lobbying” shall mean seeking to influence the decision of any Elected Official, any Advisory Board member, or any Employee with respect to the passage, defeat or modification of any item which may foreseeably be presented for consideration to the advisory board or elected body as applicable.

“Lobbyist” shall mean any person who is employed and receives payment, or who contracts for economic consideration, for the purpose of lobbying on behalf of a principal, and shall include an employee whose principal or most significant responsibilities to the employer is overseeing the employer's various relationships with government or representing the employer in its contacts with government.

Registration with the Village of Tequesta DOES NOT relieve any Lobbyist of their obligation to register with Palm Beach County, if such registration is required.
